This is an academic site. Though it is geared toward a public audience, we are not a crowd-sourced site. We adhere to academic and industry standards of research, rigor, and copyright. Our mission is to capture and preserve the history of South Phoenix, and likewise make this history accessible to the public – both in academia and beyond.

  • All content on this website unless otherwise noted, is created, maintained, and owned by faculty and students affiliated with the South Phoenix Oral History Project. We are housed at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • All written content is created by students, faculty, and researchers. It is not generated by AI tools.
  • All multimedia (including but not limited to images, videos and sound clips) is owned by South Phoenix Oral History Project and/or South Mountain Community College, unless otherwise noted. Please see captions and descriptions below each image or multimedia file for copyright and ownership information.
